Based on "Dagger and X-bow damage bugfix" by rpgplayer1
Below information is accurate for Version 0.3
Last tested with: Patch 1.01a
Fixes:
Daggers will use Dex and Str for damage bonus instead of just Str.
Crossbows will use Dex for damage bonus, instead of nothing at all.
Brief Description:
Daggers will be a more viable option over Longswords, due to increased crit chance.
Shortbows will be optimal for Rapid Fire use, due to increased speed, and equal-damage to Longbows (the reduced crit shouldn't matter if you're using Rapid Fire).
Longbows will be optimal for general purpose elimination (Arrow of Slaying, etc).
Crossbows will be optimal for high-armor, slower moving targets, such as Revenants.
Bows in general should roughly par with equivalent-quality Greatswords, possibly a bit weaker if the Greatsword has multiple Mage buffs, and/or decent runes.
